The Mexican Government is planning to implement its ambitious plan to increase to 35% the share of renewable energy in the total energy balance of the country by 2026.Emphasis will be placed on solar energy.

Mexico is not the first country that comes to mind when we are talking about green technologies. However, the government has decided to rectify the situation. Our portal in February announced еру plans of the Mexican government by 2024 to produce 35% of electricity from renewable energy sources. Additionally analyzing the situation, the authorities increased implementation deadlines of the green plans for two years ahead.

Today in Mexico, the share of renewables is a little less than 15%.Development of hydropower is in a greater degree, the share of wind and solar energy today accounts for only 1.5%.And despite of the fact, solar energy in the country has a huge potential.Based on this, in the coming years this segment will develop at the highest rates.

As Bloomberg informs, the U.S. companyFirst Solar, which manufactures solar modules, recently marked its strong presence in the Mexican market, buying a number of projects.Licenses for the deployment of solar projects in Mexico are with German Saferay and Spanish GrupotecTecnologia Solar companies.Last year, Mexico was put into operation in the country's largest solar power plant. This object belongs to a local investor - company Gauss Energia.

We hope that this project will open up great prospects for the solar energy sector in Mexico.Previously held a variety of ideas and declarations, but none of the proposed initiatives in practice has not been implemented.Perhaps, still imperfect system in legislation concerning this sector spookedmany. But now everything works well and contributes to the development of bankable projects - Hector Olea, CEO Gauss Energia.

We note that today in Mexico they do not provide subsidies for solar energy sector, industry operates on a system of pure dimension. In many regions of the country where solar power can competeconventional electricity, prices are incredibly high.In that case, if the government introduces incentives for solar energy, then in the foreseeable future Mexico could turn from oil country into one which it has been for many years in a country experiencing an unprecedented rise in renewable energy.
