Japanese paleontologists confirmed the discovery of a new type of dinosaur fossils in a city Katsuyama, which is located in the central prefecture of Fukui.

It was reported by the Japanese agency “Jiji”.

The employees of the Paleontological Museum and University of Fukui found that the fossils belong to a dinosaur of the suborder of bipedal theropod, which lived on our planet 120 million years ago. According to Professor Yoichi Azuma, it is the seventh dinosaur skeleton found in the territory of Japan. A new type of ancient reptiles was called “paradoxical hunter from Fukui” (Fukuivenator paradoxus) because of the specific structure of the cervical vertebrae, untypical for the other theropods.
