Kazakhstan will have access to abstracts database SciVerse Scopus

JSC “National Center for Scientific and Technical Information” (JSC “NC STI”) will get access to the world's largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature., reports KazTAG with reference to inforcenter.
‘Agreement between JSC “NC STI” and Elsevier B.V. will provide domestic research and educational institutions and the scientific community with a unique opportunity to use electronic information resources of Elsevier, which will lead to creation of conditions for the development of scientific and technical activities contributing to establishment of knowledge-based economy in Kazakhstan.’ says the center’s press release of February 26, 2014.
According to the press release, JSC “NC STI” holds in Almaty a Roundtable dedicated to “Addition of Kazakh academic journals to international Information Resources: Problems and Solutions.”
The roundtable will be attended by the Chairman of the Committee for Control of Education and Science, Ministry of Education and Science Zabira Orazaliev, deputy chairman of the science Lyazzat Kusainova, chairman of Elsevier Yongsuk Chi, president of JSC “NC STI” Adil Ibrayev, principals of universities and research institutes, and editor Kazakh scientific journals.
According to the press release, the event incorporates the ceremony of signing the Agreement between JSC “NC STI” and Elsevier, represented by its Chairman, Mr. Yongsuk Chi, for access to the world's largest unified abstracts database SciVerse Scopus.
Elsevier's portfolio includes 2,500 journals, 11,000 online books, SciVerse ScienceDirect, SciVerse Scopus, Reaxys, Emabse, Engineering Village databases, as well as innovative systems for analysis, evaluation and decision-making in research activities, etc. SciVal SciVerse Scopus indexes about 21,000 titles of scientific, technological and medical journals from 5,000 international publishers.
JSC “NC STI” is a large information center in the country, which is dedicated to implementation of public resources of scientific and technical information, studying information needs, provision of researchers and professionals with scientific and technical information and consumers' access to domestic and international sources of information. JSC “NC STI” is the parent organization of the National STI system of Kazakhstan, including 10 regional branch offices, Republican Scientific and Technical Library (RLST) with the Patent Fund of Kazakhstan.
