The research group "Nazarbayev University", Chastnoe uchrezhdenie "National Laboratory Astana" developed the scientific and technological basis for the integrated and sustainable development of personalized medicine in Kazakhstan.

The researchers analyzed the clinical data of recruited patients diagnosed with esophageal cancer. The following results were obtained: a histological description of micro-preparations with samples of esophagus tissues; a bioinformatic analysis of full data of sequencing the transcriptome was performed, Y-chromosome polymorphisms on 40 SNP markers were determined.

In addition, the results of the analysis of these samples of Kazakhs: geno-geographic analysis, Y-chromosome polymorphism, as well as the composition of the intestinal microbiota, and the functional characteristics of individual groups of microorganisms. Specific composition of the microflora of the gastro-intestinal tract in elderly people based on the extracted DNA from the samples of feces.

Within the framework of the research, genetically engineered structures were made in the form of virus-like nanoparticles containing a model substance, for example, transportan, doxorubicin, rifampicin. As a transport system, autologous erythrocytes or pharmacocytes, loaded with a model substance (transportan, doxorubicin, rifampicin) were used in the study of pharmacokinetics. In addition, scientists have developed a device design for extracorporeal ultrasonic irradiation of blood from patients with blood cancer. Markers of the cell surface associated with active cells, which allow sorting by differentiating potential are identified.

The carried out researches are directed on treatment and improvement of quality of life of oncological patients.
